Lappeenranta to enhance transport through shared vehicle services
 

The City of Lappeenranta is currently looking for a service provider to introduce shared electric vehicle services to the city. The city is planning to offer four new electric cars in this service this year. They will be available for hire by residents when they are not in official use by the city. The service will be operated entirely by a private service provider. The key aim is to streamline the use of vehicles by the city and thus create savings in the city’s vehicle operations.

Lappeenranta obtains 3.4 million from the EU to develop a replacement material for concrete

The City of Lappeenranta and the Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) with their partners have acquired significant funding from the EU for the development of a replacement building material for concrete and a new kind of cityscape. The total cost of the Urban Infra Revolution project is EUR 4.2 million, of which 80%, or EUR 3.4 million, will come from the Urban Innovation Action (UIA) programme of the ERDF.

Press Release of Gasum and the City of Lappeenranta 14.6.2017

Gasum, Kemira and the City of Lappeenranta assessed the techno-economic feasibility of a renewable gas production plant, or methanation plant, in Joutseno. If implemented on the scale now examined with an annual production of 18-28 MW, the methanation plant could be by far the largest plant in the world producing renewable methane from hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The plant concept would be based on utilizing the flows of byproducts from local industry.

The techno-economic feasibility of the first gas production plant of its size class based on new technology is being assessed by Gasum, Kemira and City of Lappeenranta. If implemented on the scale now examined, the methanation plant could be by far the largest plant in the world producing renewable methane from hydrogen and carbon dioxide with its annual production capacity of up to 20 MW.

Visedo is ready to take a global lead in providing smart and high performance electric drivetrain systems

Visedo received early Christmas present and raises 20 MEUR financing round with Emerald Technology Ventures as the lead investor. 

Visedo, a company specializing in electric powertrains and components, has collected a financing package of EUR 20 million, comprising of an equity investment of EUR 13.5 million, an EFSI loan of EUR 5 million* and EUR 1.5 million in funding from other sources.

Itula centralises its operations in South Karelia

From the beginning of September, Itula Oy’s operations will be centralised in the South Karelia region, in Puntala, Ruokolahti. Itula’s production facilities in Ruokolahti have already been operational for two years already, and now more of the company’s functions have been brought under one roof, with the relocation of storage, administration and sales functions.
